1. Overview

 

The HEIMS Online Help screen provides you with information on using this website, such as how to register, login or change your password and how to navigate around HEIMS Online. The ? help icon in the top right hand corner of the HEIMS Online screens will always provide you with access to the HEIMS Online help.

 

There is specific HEIMS Online application help available when you have accessed a HEIMS Online application. Access to the HEIMS Online application help is by clicking on the Help option on the left-hand navigation menu for the application you are currently using.

 

This site supports Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 8.0 for Windows.

Problems may be encountered if a different browser or an older version of the specified browser is used. If you experience any problems, please email HEIMS.DataCollections@education.gov.au.

2. How do I register to receive a Login ID and Password?

 

2.1 If you have not yet registered for access to HEIMS Online, select the Register option on the left-hand navigation menu, or the Register link on the Login screen.

2.2 This will take you to the Register screen. Read the instructions on the screen carefully, and if you are eligible, click the Register for access to HEIMS Online link.

2.3 This will open an email message addressed to HEIMS.DataCollections@education.gov.au. Enter the required details in the body of the email and send the request.

2.4 The HEIMS Helpdesk will contact you to confirm your registration. You will be provided with a temporary password which you will need to change on your first login to HEIMS Online.

3. How do I login to HEIMS Online?

 

3.1 From the HEIMS Online home page, select the Login option on the left-hand navigation menu.

3.2 Enter your Login ID and Password.

3.3 Click the Login button.

3.4 The login ID and password you entered are authenticated and you are logged into HEIMS Online.

4. What happens when I login to HEIMS Online for the first time?

 

4.1 The first time you login to HEIMS Online, you will be asked to change the temporary password you were given when you registered. You will be automatically taken to the My account screen.

4.2 Enter your current (temporary) password in the Current password field.

4.3 Enter your new password in the New password field and confirm it by re-entering it in the Confirm password field.

4.4 Click the Save button to save your new password.

5. How do I change my password?

 

5.1 You will be prompted to change your password on a regular basis, but you can also opt to change it at any time.

5.2 If your password has expired, you will be automatically taken to the My account screen.

5.3 Or you can access the My account screen by selecting the My account option on the left-hand navigation menu.

5.4 Enter your current password in the Current password field.

5.5 Enter your new password in the New password field and confirm it by re-entering it in the Confirm password field.

5.6 Click the Save button to save your new password.

6. What should I do if I have forgotten my password?

 

6.1 If you have forgotten your password, select the Help! Ive forgotten my password link from the Login screen.

6.2 This will open an email message addressed to HEIMS.DataCollections@education.gov.au. Enter the required details in the body of the email and send the request.

6.3 The HEIMS Helpdesk will contact you to provide you with a new temporary password, which you will need to change the next time you login to HEIMS Online.

7. What happens after successful login?

 

7.1 Once you have successfully logged into HEIMS Online, you will be presented with the HEIMS Online home page.

7.2 The HEIMS applications you can access will be listed on the left-hand navigation menu below the standard HEIMS Online navigation options.

7.3 Only those applications you are approved to access will appear on the left-hand navigation menu.

8. How do I navigate within HEIMS Online?

 

8.1 To access an application, select the relevant option from the left-hand navigation menu. For example, if you want to access the CHESSN management system, click the CHESSN option on the left-hand navigation menu.

8.2 The home page of the selected application will be displayed, and the name of the application you are currently viewing will be displayed on the banner at the top of the screen.

8.3 New navigation options will appear on the left-hand navigation menu. The menu option leading to the application home page will be highlighted so you can easily return to that page.

8.4 You can navigate to other screens within the application by selecting an option from the left-hand navigation menu. The screen you are currently viewing will be highlighted to help keep you oriented within the site.

8.5 You will also be able to see all the other navigation options within the application. Selecting a option from the left-hand navigation menu will take you to that relevant screen.

8.6 To go to the home page of another application, simply select the correct option from the left-hand navigation menu.

8.7 You can return to the standard HEIMS Online page by clicking the HEIMS Online option from the left-hand navigation menu at the top of the screen.

9. How do I log out of HEIMS Online?

 

9.1 To log out of HEIMS Online, select the Log out option from the left-hand navigation menu.

9.2 You will be logged out of the HEIMS Online application and a message will be displayed confirming your successful logout.

9.3 To login again, select the Login option from the left-hand navigation menu or select the Login again link on the page.

10. What can I do on the Administration screen?

 

10.1 Only departmental users have access to the Administration screen. The screen displays links to applications required for the management of HEIMS.

10.2 A separate login process is required to access these applications.
